Brian Rowland, Councilman Position #1
Brian Rowland was born to native Belizean and Panamanian parents in the late 1970′s in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up traveling the world with his parents and two younger siblings, due to his father being active in the military. After graduating from C.E.Ellison High School in Killeen Texas, Brian was awarded a scholarship to Central Texas College. During his years at Central Texas College he earned an A.A.S. in Marketing & Sales Management and A.A.S. in Business Management. Brian holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing from Tarleton State University. He graduated with a Master of Community Development (MCD); and certifications in Community Planning and Fundraising from Prairie View A&M University. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) as well from PVAMU. Brian is determined to achieve professional and personal growth as he strives to impact the future of Prairie View; therefore he serves his community through numerous affiliations including: Prairie View Federal Credit Union Board Member; Prairie View Chamber of Commerce-1st Vice President; Prairie View Vol. Fire Dept-Member; Prairie View Athletic Club-Historian; Board of Adjustment & Appeals for the City of Prairie View; NAACP-Life Member; Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; Houston Area Urban League-Young Professionals; Prairie View National Alumni Association-Life Member.Brian was an instrumental force in the successful restoration of the essential rights of Prairie View A&M students’ rights to vote. His commitment to progress, compassion, concern for others, and the willingness to lead by example are all attributes of his fine character which will help move this community into a brighter and stronger future. He has received the Young Champions of Justice Award from The Lawyers Committee on Civil Rights at the National Bar Association Conference which was held in Houston, Texas and he also has a state, regional and national reputation for outstanding leadership and community involvement. He has been actively involved in the NAACP for the last 16 years and is currently the Assistant Treasurer for the Texas State Conference for the NAACP.Ultimately, Brian’s career goal is to succeed in every level of business. Brian says, “Being an entrepreneur has presented him with a path to reach his goals.” He believes his success is coined from being surrounded by positive people who have given him the motivation to keep succeeding. Currently, Brian is a Registered Representative with ING Financial Advisers, LLC.
